OHAA Member Insurance Program

Professional Indemnity Insurance for Oral Health Practitioners

OHAA offers the OHAA Member Insurance Program with BMS, giving you access to insurance solutions to support your professional needs and provide peace of mind.

What Cover is Available?

Professional Indemnity (PI) Insurance

As a registered Ahpra dental practitioner, having Professional Indemnity Insurance isn’t just a requirement, it’s essential protection for your professional future. When something goes wrong, PI Insurance helps safeguard you by having your legal defense organised and paid for, so you’re not facing a claim alone. It can also help cover patient compensation or damages arising from allegations of error, omission, or negligence.

With the OHAA Member Insurance Program, getting cover is fast and simple. You’ll meet your Ahpra obligations with confidence and have the option to add Public Liability Insurance for even greater peace of mind.

Read the FAQs for more information.

Round Out Your Protection with Additional Cover

As an OHAA member, you can access a range of additional insurance options, designed to complement your Professional Indemnity Insurance and provide broader peace of mind.

  • Public and Products Liability Insurance (can be added to your existing PI policy at any time)
  • Business Insurance
  • Entity Insurance
  • Cyber Liability Insurance

Complimentary Professional Indemnity Cover for Oral Health Students and First-Year Graduates

If you’re an OHAA student or first year graduate member, you’re eligible for complimentary Professional Indemnity (PI) Insurance through the OHAA Member Insurance Program. This cover helps you meet Ahpra requirements as you begin your career as an oral health practitioner.

To activate your complimentary PI cover, you’ll need to opt-in. Simply log in to the OHAA Member Portal and follow the steps outlined in the ‘My Insurance’ section.

How To Access OHAA Member Insurance

With a current OHAA membership, you can organise your Professional Indemnity Insurance in just minutes. Simply log in to the OHAA Member Portal and navigate to the ‘My Insurance’ section. From there, you’ll be directed to the BMS Portal, where you can register for an account to purchase cover.

If you already hold a policy, you can also log in at any time to add additional insurance options, such as Public Liability or other optional covers. Once your insurance is confirmed, BMS will email all policy documents directly to you, so you have everything you need for your records.

For help or more information, you can contact BMS at [email protected] or call 1800 940 762.

Note

You must be a current Oral Health Association of Australia (OHAA) member to be eligible to register for the OHAA Member Insurance Program. You must be part of the OHAA Member Insurance program in order to access additional cover. If your membership ceases you will not be offered renewal when your policy expires. In offering this insurance to our members OHAA is a distributor of BMS Risk Solutions Pty Ltd (BMS) AFSL 461594, ABN 45161187980. The insurance policies are arranged by BMS under binder with the insurer. When acting under a binder BMS acts as agent for the insurer and not as your agent. This is general advice only and BMS has not considered whether it was suitable for your personal circumstances, current objectives, needs or financial situation. Please read the Policy Wording/Product Disclosure Statement and the BMS Terms of Engagement which contains the Financial Services Guide before making a decision about purchasing this policy. There is a Target Market Determination for the Personal Accident policy. As a distributor, OHAA may receive a percentage of the commission paid to BMS by the insurer and/or a fee per policy in offering this insurance to members.
