We unite the legacy expertise of the former ADOHTA and DHAA to give every oral health practitioner a single, stronger voice. Built on decades of volunteer dedication, we're now the peak body representing dental hygienists, dental therapists and oral health therapists across the country.

A variety of OHAA membership categories are available, intended to meet you at every stage of your professional path.

Full Member - $330

For dental hygienists, oral health therapists and dental therapists who are currently registered with the Dental Board of Australia, or hold a tertiary qualification in dental hygiene, dental therapy, or oral health therapy that is recognised by and registrable with the Dental Board of Australia.

Inclusions:
  • Full members have the right to vote and serve on committees.
  • Entitled to receive the OHAA Connect digital magazine, ANZJDOHT (academic journal), Annual Report, and other documents as the Board may determine.
  • Complimentary individual membership with Services for Australian Rural & Remote Allied Health (SARRAH) if residing in the MMM3-7 rural and remote zones.
  • Receive members rates to OHAA CPD, Industrial Relations support, access to the members area of OHAA website, corporate offers and discounted rates to events run by our partner Associations.
  • Access to the My OHAA app.

The annual membership fee for 2025/2026 is $330 with the option to add our exclusive professional indemnity insurance for an additional fee. New Graduate Member - $165

For our newly graduated dental hygienists, oral health therapists and dental therapists who have graduated from a tertiary qualification in dental hygiene or oral health therapy that is recognised by and registrable with the Dental Board of Australia in the past 12 months.

Inclusions:
  • New graduate members have all the rights of Full Members - new graduate members have the right to vote and serve on committees.
  • They are entitled to receive the OHAA Connect digital magazine, ANZJDOHT (academic journal), Annual Report, and other documents as the Board may determine.
  • Complimentary individual membership with Services for Australian Rural & Remote Allied Health (SARRAH) if residing in the MMM3-7 rural and remote zones.
  • Receive members rates to OHAA CPD, Industrial Relations support, access to the members area of OHAA website, corporate offers, discounted rates to events run by our partner Associations.
  • Access to the My OHAA app.

As our way of saying welcome to the industry, new graduate members receive a 50% discount of the full annual membership fee, and complimentary professional indemnity insurance. New graduate membership is valid until the next scheduled renewal date (1 July each year).

Oral Health Student Membership - Complimentary

 

If you are currently enrolled in, or undertaking a program of study leading to a qualification in dental hygiene or oral health therapy that is recognised by, and leading to the initial registration as a dental hygienist or oral health therapist with the Dental Board of Australia, you may be eligible for student membership.

Inclusions:
  • Oral health student members shall have all privileges of full membership other than the right to vote or hold office.
  • Oral health student members are entitled to receive the OHAA Connect digital magazine, ANZJDOHT (academic journal), Annual Report, and other documents as the Board may determine.
  • Complimentary individual membership with Services for Australian Rural & Remote Allied Health (SARRAH) if residing in the MMM3-7 rural and remote zones.
  • Receive special student rates to OHAA CPD, Industrial Relations support, access to the member area of OHAA website, corporate offers, discounted rates to events run by our partner Associations.
  • Access to the My OHAA app.

Every year the OHAA calls for a student representative from each educational institution to join their state committee as a voice for their peers.

Oral health student membership to the OHAA is free with proof of enrolment (student ID card or acceptance letter).

Associate Membership - $100

Associate members may be under one of the following categories:

  • persons who hold a qualification in dental hygiene, dental therapy, or oral health that is recognised by and registrable with the Dental Board of Australia, and are not currently registered or have non-practising registration with with the DBA, or
  • persons other than dental hygienists, dental therapists or oral health therapists who are engaged in or associated with the profession of oral health. This includes but is not limited to oral health educators, researchers, dental assistants (cert IV), allied health practitioners and categories of dental practitioner not eligible for full membership, or
  • employers, policy makers, industry representatives, administrators, or any other person interested in profession and the association, who may upon application and at the discretion of the Board be admitted to membership of the OHAA.
  • Access to the My OHAA app.

All classes of Associate members are entitled to receive the OHAA Connect (digital magazine), member rates to OHAA CPD and corporate offers.

Join as an Associate Member

Affiliate Student - $165

Students at any Australian Universities studying full time other than dental hygiene or oral health therapy students may be admitted as Affiliate Student Members. Students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels are eligible.

Inclusions:
  • Affiliate Student members are entitled to receive the OHAA Connect (digital magazine), Annual Report, and other documents as the Board may determine.
  • Receive student rates to OHAA CPD, Industrial Relations support, access to the members area of OHAA website, corporate offers, discounted rates to events run by our partner Associations.
  • May purchase the OHAA Professional Indemnity Insurance if it is applicable to the member.
  • Access to the My OHAA app.

Affiliate Student members receive a 50% discount of the full annual membership fee, and they may purchase the professional indemnity insurance if it is applicable. Affiliate Student membership is valid until the next scheduled renewal date (1 July each year).

Life Membership - Complimentary

  • Life membership is awarded to members who have made significant and enduring contributions to OHAA.
  • Life members are nominated by a board director for consideration and must receive a two-third majority vote upon which they are awarded life membership to the association.
  • Life members have all the rights and inclusions of Full Members except that they can hold office or vote only when they are registered with the Dental Board of Australia.
  • Life members are not required to pay an annual membership fee.
  • Access to the My OHAA app.

Honorary Membership - Complimentary

Honorary members are nominated by a member of the OHAA and approved by the CEO on delegated authority from the Board.

Any of the following persons may be considered for an Honorary Membership:

  • Any person distinguished in oral health or allied sciences.
  • Any person who has rendered distinguished service to OHAA,or
  • Any person who, in the opinion of the Board may further advance the interests of the profession.

  • Honorary members are entitled to receive the OHAA Connect (digital magazine), member rates to OHAA CPD, and corporate offers.
  • Complimentary individual membership with Services for Australian Rural & Remote Allied Health (SARRAH) if residing in the MMM3-7 rural and remote zones.
  • Access to the My OHAA app.

Membership is usually awarded for a period of twelve months but membership may be extended at the discretion of the CEO. Honorary membership is complimentary.
